‘Just assume the answer to every question is compassion.’

We have been told, ‘the closer you are to the problem, the closer you are to the solution.’ So we thank you for your desire to join us where the problem exists, so that we all can be part of a solution. When people are drawn to an issue like improving the status of our community’s mental health, we all know the skills and abilities they bring to the table can be significant. What is it that you can do, that would enhance the mission of Counseling On Us? Let’s talk!

Internships

Counseling On Us offers undergraduate and graduate-level internships. Undergraduate opportunities will last a summer, or one-two semesters. Graduate Internships are an entire, academic-year commitment.

For Undergraduates

This internship is designed for students pursuing a degree in counseling, social work, psychology, public health or a related field. Interns will assist with case management by managing and updating resources for clients, assisting with interviewing clients in treatment to gather qualitative and quantitative information, and presenting cases to volunteer therapists. Based upon the intern’s interest and organization needs, interns may also update clinical resources, contribute to our newsletter and blog, and attend community meetings where needed.

For more information, please email us here.

For Graduate Students

The graduate-level internship is a clinical experience designed for students of psychology, social work and/or professional counseling. Interns will gain experience in conducting intake interviews and documenting services. Under the supervision of a board- approved clinician, interns will also provide therapy to clients in a private practice setting.
